New York, NY and Jackson, NJ – (May 30, 2018) – Today, CheckRare, an innovative learning platform for rare diseases, and the American Academy of CME, Inc., a 501(c)(3) education foundation focused on empowering and inspiring the healthcare team and its members to provide outstanding, high-quality patient care, announced a new continuing education collaboration.
This collaboration will focus on providing innovative and cost-effective, CME/CE-certified learning solutions that reach health care providers and the advocacy communities with important education and tools related to diagnosing and caring for people living with rare diseases. There is a great challenge for the rare disease community to raise awareness about these disorders, improve recognition of signs and symptoms, educate on clinical trial options, and learn about new and emerging treatment options.
According to Peter J. Ciszewski, president of CheckRare. “Both the American Academy of CME and CheckRare are dedicated to providing credible information to health care professionals and the rare disease community. By collaborating, CheckRare will benefit from the Academy’s expertise at creating high-quality, CME-certified programs in rare and often overlooked diseases,” said Ciszewski.
“This collaboration combines the Academy’s expertise in developing continuing education programs that improve the knowledge, skills and performance of clinicians and CheckRare’s success in developing and delivering rare disease learning programs,” said John JD Juchniewicz, MICS, CHCP, President of the Academy. “By working together and combining our respective strengths, we look to offer innovative and cost-effective certified education that positively impacts the care of the 30 million Americans living with rare diseases and their families – two-thirds of whom are children.”
Both parties hope that better patient care and increased understanding of rare diseases will result from their collaboration.
