This 45-minute CME-accredited program, developed by Howard Trachtman, MD, FASN, and Carla M. Nester, MD, MSA, FASN, utilizes three unique case studies to address clinical questions which explore the complexities involved in diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with various complement-mediated kidney disorders, such as C3 glomerulopathy and atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS).
Target Audience
This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of physicians specializing in nephrology, pathology, and managed care. Other healthcare providers, including nephrology nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and pharmacists, involved in caring for patients with complement-mediated kidney disorders may also participate.
Learning Objectives
After participating in the activity, learners should be better able to:
- Explain the importance of genetic testing in aHUS and other complement-mediated kidney disorders.
- Describe emerging therapies for patients with complement-mediated kidney diseases, including their efficacy and safety.
- Explain strategies the care team can use to improve the quality of life in patients with complement-mediated kidney diseases.
