Openly Rare with Paul Kidwell is a monthly podcast series dedicated to the discussion around rare diseases. The podcast, created and hosted by Paul Kidwell, a 20-year PR veteran within the life science industry, will feature timely conversations with researchers, newsmakers, patient advocates, business leaders and rare disease experts.

“The discussion around rare diseases is multi-layered and its impact reverberates throughout all geographies, social strata and personal demographics,” said Paul Kidwell. “During my 20 years working within the life science sector, I have had the privilege of helping rare disease patients, researchers, caregivers and businesses share intimate stories about their involvement in this therapeutic setting. It’s this very personal experience that I bring to Openly Rare and will help stimulate my discussions.”

Openly Rare launched with a conversation between Kidwell and the co-creators of “DISORDER: The Rare Disease Film Festival,” Daniel DeFabio and Bo Bigelow. In 2017, the Festival had a successful introduction in Cambridge, MA, with a two-day event that featured select films, presentations, and discussions around rare diseases. The second installment of the Festival will take place in 2019 in San Francisco.

The balance of the 2018 schedule is:
October 3, 2018: Philip R. Reilly, M.D., author, “Orphan: The Quest to Save Children with Rare Genetic Disorders”

November 7: Joyce Kulhawik, Emmy Award-winning arts and entertainment critic and three-time cancer survivor

November 27: Paul G. Richardson, M.D., Clinical Program Leader and Director of Clinical Research of the Jerome Lipper Multiple Myeloma Center, Dana Farber Cancer Institute
