J.G. Jones, comic book artist known for his work with D.C. and Marvel comics, discusses Rare Reflections: MPNs Unmasked, an initiative focused on raising awareness about Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (MPNs).
MPNs are rare, chronic blood cancers and can be classified based on the presence or absence of the Philadelphia chromosome. There are three types of Philadelphia chromosome-negative MPNs, which are:
- Polycythemia vera (PV)
- Essential thrombocythemia (ET)
- Myelofibrosis (MF)
Mr. Jones was diagnosed with PV in 2009 and has recently started collaborating with Incyte on Rare Reflections: MPNs Unmasked, a campaign that raises awareness about MPNs through illustrations done by Jones of how MPN affects patients’ lives.
