Peter Saltonstall, President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD), discusses the upcoming Virtual Rare Summit being held October 8-9.

For over 30 years, NORD has been providing services for rare disease patients and their families, advocacy groups, medical professionals, and those developing new treatments. One way they do this is by hosting their annual NORD Rare Summit. This year, the summit will be held virtually on October 8-9 and will focus on:

  • the impact of COVID-19 on the rare disease community,
  • drug development and pricing,
  • advancements in technology,
  • tools for accelerating cures and much more.

Some of the speakers who will be presenting include Christopher Austin, MD (Director, National Center for Advancing Translational Science or NCATS), David Fajgenbaum, MD (Co-founder of the Castleman Disease Collaborative Network), Stephen Hahn, MD (Commissioner, U.S. Food and Drug Administration), Mike Porath (The Mighty), Marshall Summar, MD (Rare Disease Institute, Children’s National), as well as a plethora of biotech and advocacy leaders.
