David Smerkous, AI PhD Student, Oregon State University, discusses artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare.
Mr. Smerkous describes concerns relating to AI, including its impact on the jobs of laboratory technicians. While this technology can help with laborious, repetitive tasks, such as counting, instead of taking jobs, it will allow technicians to focus on other tasks such as processing. AI has the ability to streamline many of these processes and make them more accessible to patients. Work is also being done to train AI in the ability to aggregate data for diagnosis.
