Rebecca Aune, Director of Education Programs for the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD), talks about the upcoming 2021 Living Rare, Living Stronger NORD Patient and Family Forum being held June 26-27. The event will be held virtually.
As Ms. Aune explains, this event is aimed at rare disease patients and their families, though health care providers and other rare disease advocates are welcome. The main goals of the event are to educate patients about the following: how to advocate for their health, how to participate in research and advocacy, and how to build a support network through a care team and/or other patients. Mindfulness and wellness are also a large focus with activities focused on meditation, yoga, and more.
A crucial element integrated into this event is the ability for individuals to meet each other one-on-one or through discussion groups.
Registration in this forum also gives you access to the Rare Impact Awards, held virtually on June 28.
